Forest recovery contract for areas affected by the burst of a dam in Brasil

In August 2018, Egis signed a contract with Fundação Renova to perform forest recovery and special consulting services for areas affected by the burst of the Fundão dam in 2015 in the municipality of Mariana (State of Minas Gerais).

This project is part of the Term of Transaction and Conduct Adjustment (TTAC) signed between Samarco Mineração – supported by its shareholders, Vale and BHP Billiton – the Federal Government, the State Governments of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo and other governmental bodies.

Scheduled to end in November 2020, the Egis contract contemplates elaboration of executive projects, technical supervision and execution of forest recovery actions, in addition to monitoring the efficiency of the actions carried out in places close to the Fundão and Risoleta Neves dams (about 250 hectares). The forest recovery will be done in permanent preservation areas and forests affected by the burst of the Fundão dam.

The contract consolidate and expand the technical experience acquired in planting projects.
