Egis has been appointed Incident Response and Maintenance (IR&M) Partner for Transurban’s roads in south Sydney, strengthening its long-standing partnership with Transurban and supporting a new, north-south approach to safer, more reliable journeys across Sydney’s toll roads.
The appointment reflects a continued commitment to working together with Transurban, building on decades of collaboration to deliver critical road infrastructure services for millions of road users.
Under the new contract, Egis will deliver integrated incident response and maintenance services across WestConnex, the Eastern Distributor and the Cross City Tunnel — bringing together multiple assets under a single, coordinated operating model.
Delivering at scale and complexity
Transurban's southern Sydney roads are one of the largest and most complex urban motorways in Australia, and set an international benchmark for scale, complexity and operational standards.
With 43.4km of tunnel and over 226,000 maintainable assets, rapid, highly coordinated responses and proactive maintenance are required to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
“This appointment reflects the strength of our Australian team and the trust we’ve built working alongside Transurban,” said Tommy Parker, Director Operations & Maintenance – Australia.
“What’s particularly exciting is the move to a strategic partner model. It allows us to work together to embrace and invest in new technologies which will help us to plan smarter, optimise incident response and deliver a more consistent experience for road users across the north-south network.”
Global expertise, delivered locally
Egis brings together deep local knowledge with the scale and capability of a global operator. Across the world, Egis operates and maintains approximately 7,800 km of road networks, including major urban motorways, tunnels and managed corridors.
This global experience — spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East — underpins Egis’ approach to safety, resilience and performance, combining operator-led delivery with advanced technology and digital asset management.
“This appointment reflects the high standards and technical excellence required to operate some of Australia’s most complex road infrastructure, and it speaks to the long-term trust Transurban has placed in the Egis teams. We are proud to be delivering our expertise across an infrastructure of such scale and complexity,” said Pierre-Yves Massille, CEO Consulting & Operations.
Looking ahead
This partnership marks an important step in shaping the next generation of incident response and maintenance across the road network. It creates a platform for continuous innovation - enabling new technologies, process improvement, digitalisation and sustainability initiatives to be progressively rolled out over the life of the contract.
Together with Transurban, Egis will continue to focus on safety, reliability and smarter technology — delivering better journeys for the millions of people who rely on these roads every day.
