Egis, in consortium with its partners, was appointed to work on all sections of the Tren Maya project performing different activities.
Our teams are responsible for the construction supervision of section 4, 257 km long, with three stations: Chichen Itza, Valladolid and Cancun. The central section of the railroad, 225 km long, runs along the 180 D highway (between Kantunil and Cancun), deviating from the expressway only at its ends.
The use of an existing route helps to reduce the environmental impact and land occupation costs generated by the project. The line will be electrified and will run in both directions thanks to a double-track line along the highway between Kantunil and Cancun.
Egis is also in charge of supervising the works of the 5 Sur section. With a length of 59 km, section 5 South will run between two important tourist destinations in Mexico: Cancun and Tulum. Egis is currently building a highway and the railway line will be built in parallel. The line will run more than 120 km with a total of four stops, including the well-known coastal resort of Playa del Carmen.
Due to the good performance and extensive capabilities, Egis and the consortium were entrusted with the task of providing technical supervision and quality control of the construction works, equipment, railway systems, exterior works and platform of the 3 depots and 3 workshops and depots included in the 7 sections.
Additionally, Egis is managing the "RAMS monitoring/demonstration" activities related to availability assurance, system reliability and security risk management in tranches 2, 3 and 4.
