Egis has announced it has become the sole shareholder of Fulton Hogan Egis Operations & Maintenance Pty Ltd, with the business officially commencing operations as Egis Operations Australia from July 2026.
The move marks a new chapter following a successful 10-year partnership with Fulton Hogan, which has delivered operations and maintenance services across some of Sydney’s most significant motorway assets, including WestConnex and M6.
Over this period, the business has built a strong reputation for safety, operational excellence and reliability — supporting millions of journeys and helping keep Sydney moving.
Continuing strong relationships
Egis and Fulton Hogan have a long history of collaboration and will continue to partner on projects and opportunities, maintaining a trusted relationship across Australia and New Zealand.
Importantly, there will be strong continuity across the business, with 140 employees transitioning to Egis - retaining the knowledge, capability, and culture that have been built over a decade.
Positioned for the future
The announcement follows Egis’ recent appointment as the Network Strategic Partner for Incident Response and Maintenance (IR&M) on Transurban’s WestConnex, M5 South West, Eastern Distributor and the Cross City Tunnel, under a long-term contract. With this success, Egis maintains one of the largest interconnected urban tunnel networks in the world.
This milestone reflects both continuity and evolution — retaining the strength of a proven delivery model while enabling Egis to further invest in the future of operations and maintenance in Australia.
Local expertise, backed by a global network
Egis has been delivering operations and maintenance services for toll roads in Australia for more than 30 years. The formation of Egis Operations Australia strengthens these capabilities under a unified Egis brand.
The business will be fully integrated into Egis’ global network, bringing together local expertise with international scale and experience.
Egis operates and maintains approximately 7,800 kilometres of roads across 25 countries, supporting more than 2.6 million vehicle journeys each day, and manages around 192 kilometres of road tunnels worldwide.
This global experience — including landmark projects such as the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul and major motorway tunnels in Dublin — demonstrates Egis’ capability to deliver complex, high-performing infrastructure in demanding environments.
Together, this combination of local capability and global expertise supports 24/7 operations spanning traffic management, safety systems, incident response and asset management — ensuring high standards of safety, performance and reliability.
